Summerthing

Summerthing

a festival

of fireflies

flickering across the field

of an entire city —

simultaneously

everywhere —

ushering in the dusks of summer      with trumpets

kettledrums

and flutes

electric guitars      and singing colors on the walls —

distributing an offering —

a rainbow bridge for folk to mount the stage

become the act

and soar —

Summerthing —

against the bonefires set by a century’s

accumulated rage

a festival of fireflies

is brief —

small pinpricks of lumia in the wider night — still —

magic

in a wizard’s hands
